The history of T2K/SoA

SOF2 was originally released in May of 2002. It was widely known (and criticized) for being a very realistic and bloody game. The game included a new engine that allowed for the graphic depiction of bodily dismemberment. Numerous indictments were made against the game by various political action groups. Unfortunately for those appalled by the violence, the publicity that they shed upon the game only led to increased popularity. Soon, the game was host to a wide variety of servers and clans. However, many of these were transient: here one day and gone the next.

In the summer of 2005, ATB decided to rent a dedicated server so that his friends and anyone else who was interested would have a consistent place to meet up and enjoy a few rounds together. He dubbed the server, the Time2Kill server. After seeing traffic on his new server improve over the first few months, ATB decided to take it a step further and form a small clan. This new clan called itself the Time 2 Kill Clan with the moniker <T2K>.

The philosophy of this new clan was that anyone could join regardless of skill, so long as they wanted to have fun and be part of a new family. Some of the earliest players to join included Red Riot, Ezy, Skizy, Blood Corps, SuicideXN, Bunny, Legend, Joe, Mudbridge, Dzombie, and other legends. From such a strong core of members, the first squad was born. This was the Elite Squad, known as the fiercest and most loyal soldiers of the clan. The Elite Squad took only the best of the best from the general clan membership. They identified themselves with a gold 2. During wars with other clans, the elites marched onto the battlefield and begat their reign of destruction.

As more and more members joined, the desire for a variety of gametypes led ATB to rent a server box and open multiple servers including Battlefront (one of the most successful CTF servers in SOF2), Deathmatch (which would be known by various names over the years), and Infinite Carnage (a great INF/Elim server). With the new servers and a burgeoning website/forum in place, the clan blossomed to over 200 members by 2007.

During this time of massive growth, it became clear that there needed to be more structure within the clan. A clan leader with a small group of clan co-leaders or council members can successfully run a small to moderate size clan, but a group of 200 people requires a bit more flexibility. Thus, the squad structure was introduced. The original squads were:

S.W.A.T. Squad - Leaders include Goofy (founder), Blood Corps, Skillz, Dzombie, Geeza, Tide, JigSaw, FreaKy (current leader)
Riot Squad - Leaders include Red Riot (founder), The Sniper (current leader)
Imperial Squad - Leaders include Bunny (founder), SteevBomber, HardStyle, Eruption, Prodigy (current leader)
Rebel Squad - Leaders include Plasma (founder), Killadan, Sgt Smalls, Stuka, Beninhas (current leader)

By early 2006, each of these squads had grown to over 10 members each, so a 5th and final squad was formed:

Nightmare Squad - Leaders include SuicideXN (founder and current leader)

Each of these squads had their own personality. Some specialized in particular gametypes, styles of play, or weapons of choice. Overall, T2K was strengthened by the advent of the squad system. It provided an impetus for members in the clan to improve their skill so that they could compete internally to prove who the top squad was. While this occasionally caused mild internal turmoil, the clan as a whole always stood united as brothers and sisters when there was a war or scrim with a rival clan.

The ever increasing flow of new recruits necessitated a new method to handle the tide of membership applications. From this, the Private Squad was formed:

Private Squad - Leaders include Ezy and Skizy (founders), DooXN, Soul Asylum, Soul Collector, Murko, Venom, Beninhas (current)

The purpose of the Private Squad was simple: when a new recruit is provisionally accepted as a member, it is the Private Squad’s duty to help teach these new recruits how the clan operates, how to handle intraclan disputes, and help direct them toward a squad that most matches their personality and desire. By requiring a new recruit to spend 3 weeks as a Private, this cut down on the number of members who bounced around to different squads before finding a group with whom they felt comfortable. Additionally, it provided an extra period of time to ensure that the new recruits really wanted to be a member and didn’t just get caught up in the hype. As such, quite a few new recruits washed out in the Private Squad, which overall made the clan even stronger by eliminating the weak of heart.

In 2007, ATB noticed that there was a growing disparity in attitudes between the older members and the younger members. As such, he initiated a second entry level squad dubbed the Jam Squad:

Jam Squad - Leaders include Mika (founder), Arutha, Pisces, H-Town, now defuct.

The Jam Squad was meant to establish a separate squad where the younger members (those less than 16) had a place where they could interact with other members within in their own age group and hopefully learn a lot about the game and a little about life in general at the same time. The leaders and councilors’ main goal was to help teach the younger members about maturity, gamesmanship, and how to interact and function in a group as large and diverse as T2K. Unfortunately, the experiment was not perfect. As members approached their 16th birthday, they felt trapped in the squad and became somewhat disenchanted. Additionally, new recruits who were under the age of 16 often lied about their age to circumvent the squad altogether. As such, the squad was eventually disbanded by Suicide and Ice and the Jammers were accepted back into the regular squads.

Over the years as membership has grown, several daughter clans split off from T2K. The most successful of these were ESAD, run by Joe, Climbergirl, and Mudbridge, and VOD, run by Blood Corps and Mad Maxx. These clans later merged to form EVA and moved on to other games. Other smaller (and typically less successful) clans also splintered off based on disagreements with clan philosophy, the desire to form a smaller clan that was specific to a particular gametype or damage type, or just because they thought they could do better. Eventually, nearly all of these little clans would return to the fold. However, several small clans founded by former T2K/SoA members can still be found throughout the game.

In 2007, ATB became increasingly despondent and absent from the forums and the servers. By late 2007, it became evident that ATB was playing an ever decreasing role in the clan. Due to some personal issues at that point, he decided that it would be best if he shut T2K down. The T2K High Council scrambled for alternatives and provided several scenarios for ATB. Eventually, he decided to retire from clan leadership and pass the reigns to Ice and Suicide. After a somewhat tumultuous change of power, the clan was restored to its former glory and clan life continued the way it always had. Unfortunately, though, with ATB’s absence, it became increasingly difficult to make changes to the clan, forums, servers, and teamspeak without the necessary access to the systems, especially as the clan was moving into Call of Duty. For approximately, 6-8 months, numerous attempts were made to make arrangements to provide access for the current leaders without success. At that point, Ice and Suicide decided that the best way to fully service the clan was to open a new forum and new servers so that the clan leaders could have the full control that they needed to operate the clan efficiently. However, when ATB semi-retired, he requested that if the clan leadership ever decided to move the clan in any different direction, he would like that we not take the T2K name with us. Several attempts were made to get in touch with ATB to determine if this lateral move constituted a large enough change that he would want us to use a different name. Unfortunately, ATB was doing all he could to take care of his personal life and so no answer was forthcoming. As such, the clan leadership decided to change the name of the clan out of respect for ATB’s wishes. From this, the Sons of Anarchy was born with the moniker `SoA || .

The Sons of Anarchy continue the tradition of accepting all interested members. We now host members from all over the world, including USA, Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Barbados, Trinidad, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, England, Scotland, Netherlands, France, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Estonia, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania, Lithuania, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong, Israel, and Egypt.

The Sons of Anarchy maintains its strong presence in Soldiers of Fortune 2, but also continues to actively increase its presence in the Call of Duty and CSGO series.
