SOF2MODDING Advanced Tutorial.1 - Installing SOF2 SDK

Welcome to the SOF2MODDING Tutorial Series. I'm gonna explain how to make a MOD for Soldier Of Fortune Double Helix II. The tutorials are for beginners and advanced modders. Some parts are hard to understand, so if you have any Questions you can Comment or send me a PM with the Question you have.
Alright Let's Start.

In this tutorial we are going to Install the soldier of fortune 2 Software Developement Kit.
You can download the required files here:
http://www.sof2.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&op=getit&lid=592

Extract the compress file to a folder e.g. SOF2sdk on Desktop, and also extract the other 2 compressed files which are included after the first extraction.

Your folder should be something like this:

Now we are going to install SOF2SDK.

1. Run ' sof2sdk-101.msi ' and follow the installation process.
      - Install it to your  C:\SoF2SDK path ( This is probably the the path you already get ).
      - Installing this to a diffirent location on your C drive may cause errors.
      - Installing to other drive letters is permitted, as long as it is the default location will be X:\Sof2SDK ( X can stand for D:, F:, H; etc... )

2. Extract the files from your ' sof2sdk-101a ' folder into C:\Sof2SDK\bin - when prompt to overwrite choose yes or yes to all.
3. Extract the files from your ' sof2sdk-101b ' folder into C:\Sof2SDK\bin - when prompt to overwrite choose yes or yes to all.
4. Run ' sof2_1_2sdk.msi ' and follow the installation process.
      - Be sure the path is the same as in step.1

     4.2. Have you installed it to your C: drive or to another harddisk? If installed somewhere else edit the following files.
                  - SoF2SDKbinsof2.qe4
                  - SoF2SDKbinsof2mp.qe4
                  - SoF2SDKbinsof2SP.qe4
            HINT: use ctrl + f to find the words ( windows ), e.g. search for C: to find all the paths you need to edit.

5. Extract the files as mentioned in the First tutorial, but extract them into C:\SoF2SDK\base.
SOF2MODDING Tutorial.1 - Extracting PK3 Files

We have installed the SOF2SDK but we are not finished yet, we need to do some configuration.

6.  open ' RadiantMP.bat ' which you can find in your C:\SoF2SDK\bin folder.
  6.2. Go to File > Project Settings.
         - Be sure it looks like this:

         - Click ' ok ' to close the window.

  6.3 Open the preferences menu by pressing ' p ' on your keyboard.
        - Be sure it looks like this:

        - Click ' ok ' when done and close the program.

7. Now we are going setup within Radiant.
  Open ' C:\SoF2SDK\bin\sof2SP.qe4 ' in a text editor.
    - add the following lines if not yet in there.
        -  "confusedpath" "C:SoF2SDKbaseconfusEd*.*"
        -  "npcpath" "C:SoF2SDKbasenpcs*.*"

        - Be warned; they might be on line 9 & 10, check it first and edit those 2 lines before adding these lines.

8. open ' RadiantSP.bat ' which you can find in your C:\SoF2SDK\bin folder.
  8.2. Go to File > Project Settings.
         - Be sure it looks like this:

         - Click ' ok ' to close the window.

  8.3 Open the preferences menu by pressing ' p ' on your keyboard.
        - Be sure it looks like this:

        - Click ' ok ' when done and close the program.

We now have succesfully installed the mapping tools, lets start configuring the SDK Tools.

9. Create a new folder in your C:\SoF2SDK\bin folder called SourceForBehavEd
10. Copy the files from your C:\SoF2SDK to your SourceForBehavEd folder.
     - The Files are:
     - C:SoF2SDKspcodechannels.h
     - C:SoF2SDKspcodeIGInterface.h

11. Run ' BehavEd.exe ' which is in your C:\Sof2SDK\bin folder.
   11.2 Click on Prefs ( on the middle right of your screen ).
         - click "set all options to SOF2 default"
         - change the paths untill they look similar to the picture.

          - Click ' ok ' and close the program.

12. Open ' animatEd.ini ' which is in your C:\SoF2SDK\bin folder with a text editor.
        - change the path to the path you installed your SDK to  e.g. C:\SOF2SDK, F:\SOF2SDK etc...
        - save and close it.

13. Open ' sklview.in ' which is in your C:\SoF2SDK\bin folder with a text editor.
        - change the path to the path you installed your SDK to  e.g. C:\SOF2SDK, F:\SOF2SDK etc...
        - save and close it.

14. Open your text editor e.g. notepad, use a blank file.
       - place the following code in the blank file.

Quote:
CONFIGTABLE
{
$spdir "C:SoF2SDKbasestrip"
$sourcesafe_ini "\RAVENDVSS_PROJECTSSof2SRCSAFE.INI"
$sourcesafe_prj "$/base/"
}

// do NOT change these strings' order, do not delete any, only add new ones to the end
LANGUAGETABLE
{
English
German
French
British
Spanish
Italian
Russian

Japanese
Chinese
}

// Use NULL to show a slot is empty
// so far, only "Centered" & "MightNotBeTranslated" is used.
// Do NOT delete any flags without checking they're not used,
// and remember that all the values above the deletion will shift down one!!
FLAGTABLE
{
Centered
MightNotBeTranslated
Type-a-matic
Blink

Credits
Layout
Always
SameInAllWestern
}

14.2. Save the file as ' striped.cfg ' to your C:\SoF2SDK\bin folder.

We have now succesfully installed the Soldier of Fortune 2 Software Developement Kit.
Thanks to narc for this tutorial.

If you have any issues with installed the Source code of a mod ( e.g. Rocmod 2.1c, RPM from Ryan XYZ, nv mod, etc... ),
the following video might be a usefull thing to follow, it's the same process for each mod.
